#opensuse-nordic

Posted in opensuse by mschlander on 09/07/2008

I’ve registered #opensuse-nordic on freenode. It’s intended to be a common Swedish, Danish and Norwegian openSUSE support channel. Of course it’s still young, but please join and help build it.

You bring up a good point. Of course Finland is also a Nordic country, as is Iceland.

The words “Swedish, Danish and Norwegian” refer to language, not nationality. Finns and Icelandic people and others are of course very welcome if they can read/write any of these languages.

It might be a little misleading naming the channel -nordic, when not all Nordic languages are covered, but we couldn’t come up with a better name. -scandinavia, -baltic, -nord, -vikings, -se+dk+no were among the options considered. While not being perfect -nordic was the best option.

#opensuse-fi already exists, and has done for a while afaik.

    Already joined the channel 😀

Lets hope that more join the channel, so that we have a great nordic/scandinavian IRC-channel to help new users with getting started 🙂
